AGA ROMANOWICZ

Aga Romanowicz was born in 1987 in Bielsko-Biała, Poland, studied at The Jagiellonian University in Cracow and earned a Master's Degree from Polish Philology, Cultural Studies. She completed post- graduate studies in Fine Arts, Painting and Drawing
at The Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, Poland.
Inspired by the Old Masters her work is an investigation on the power of the chiaroscuro technique. Primarily a still-life painter she depicts standard vanitas objects yet rejecting symbolism and allegory - the moralistic and devotional aspects. She plays with the common perception and visual conventions. Her focus has always been emotional content and atmosphere rather than narratives.
She uses classical oil techniques and exclusively a daylight while modelling three- dimensional objects to create dramatic pieces.

Finalist of the Beautiful Bizarre Art Prize 2023 in the Emerging Artist category.
